Can't Hold Good Love Gravy Down! Master P, Primus, Tim McGraw,
Devo and More Flock to Comedy Central's "South Park"
to Create "Chef Aid: the South Park Album," Hitting
Stores October 20
The
Entire Town Of South Park And A CD-Full Of Musical Artists Rally
Around Chef For The "South Park" Soundtrack On The
American Recordings/Columbia Records Album.
What
you've been told is a lie, the history books have it all wrong.
On October 7, all will be revealed during the new episode of
"South Park,'' and chronicled on "Chef Aid: The South
Park Album,'' in stores October 20.
When
"South Park's'' Chef (Isaac Hayes) winds up on the wrong
side of a bad legal judgement and suffers financially, Stan,
Kyle, Cartman and Kenny discover Chef is more than just the
sultan of soul food, but is also the creative force behind some
of the most important moments in musical history. To help their
friend, the people of South Park organize "Chef Aid,''
a benefit concert that becomes the music event of the decade.
As word of Chef's plight spreads to the music industry, Master
P, Primus (providers of the "South Park'' theme music),
Tim McGraw, Devo and other top music acts flock to South Park
to help the man that has meant so much to them, and the world.
"Chef
Aid: The South Park Album'' is a compilation of the concert
being released by American Recordings/Columbia
Records.

Central Uses New Comet Cursors
Comedy
Central today announced that it has enhanced its Web site (http://www.comedycentral.com/)
with the Comet Cursor, a new technology that will allow users
to surf the site with cursors that take the shape of their favorite
Comedy Central characters, including Kenny from South Park,
Dr. Katz, and Ben Stein.
Comedy
Central is the first major site to implement this technology.
"Now
you can visit the Comedy Central site and your cursor will change
from the standard, boring arrow to Kenny, Ben Stein, or Dr.
Katz'' says Larry Lieberman, Vice President of Strategic Planning
and New Business Development for Comedy Central. "We are
excited about the potential for the Comet Cursor to aid navigation
throughout our site, and just to make it a more fun place to
be.''
The
cursor-changing technology is called the Comet Cursor and was
created by New York-based Comet Systems, Inc. Comet Systems,
which has a patent pending on the technology, created the Comet
Cursor to provide any web site with a fun, new way to jazz up
their content.
"Comedy

says Dean Margolis, CEO of Comet Systems. "We believe the
Comet Cursor will revolutionize the browser interface and change
the way people interact with their computers as they surf the
Web, and Comedy Central is a perfect place to start. Expect
the Comet Cursor to land on your favorite sites very soon.''

South
Park Nominated For An EMMY!
NEW
YORK, July 23, 1998 -- COMEDY CENTRAL's irreverent animated
series "South Park" has been nominated as Outstanding
Animated Program in the 1997-1998 Primetime Emmy Awards competition.
Nominations for the 50th Annual Emmy Awards were announced today
by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (ATAS) from
the Academy Plaza Theater, North Hollywood, CA.
"South Park," last year's CableACE Award-winner for
Animated Programming, is set in a seemingly quiet town nestled
in the Colorado Rockies. The show features Kyle, Kenny, Cartman
and Stan, third-graders who encounter the strange, the unexplainable
and the totally weird.
Singled out for Emmy consideration is the episode "Big
Gay Al's Big Gay Boat Ride." Originally telecast September
3, 1997, the episode features Emmy-winning actor George Clooney
as the voice of the gay dog, Sparky, as well as a lesson in
tolerance for the kids at Al's Big Gay Animal Sanctuary.
The Emmy Awards will be presented during two ceremonies. The
first, primarily for creative arts categories, will take place
on Saturday, August 29, at the Pasadena (CA) Civic Auditorium.
The balance of the Emmys, primarily for the performing arts,
will be announced before a black-tie audience during a primetime
telecast (NBC) on Sunday, September 13, from the Shrine Auditorium
in Los Angeles, CA.

South
Park 64 Soon To Be Released!
Acclaim
recently announced that Iguana, the maker of Turok: Dinosaur
Hunter and the upcoming Turok 2: Seeds of Evil, is
bringing a game version of the popular cartoon series South
Park to the Nintendo 64.
Acclaim
explained that South Park 64 is a 3D first-person shooter
and runs on an altered version of the Turok 2 engine. It arrives
later this year, as Acclaim puts it, "in time for Christmas."
IGN64.com
was treated to a video "concept" presentation of South
Park 64 which reveals what Iguana wants the final product to
look like. Assuming the end product appears anything like the
preview, South Park 64 could be a very unique and humorous shooter
- exactly what fans of the series are no doubt hoping
for.
It
wasnt hard to visualize the titles potential. Imagine
a first-person 3D view of the action a la Quake, or more fittingly,
Turok. Now, picture this: weapons including snowballs, boxing
gloves, Mr. Hankey, a cat twirled around and flung at enemies,
and a cow gun. Yes, a cow gun. In a nutshell, players shoot
a whole cow into the air which then barrels down on an opponents
head. Not too bad, right? Take a guess what part of the cows
body an opponents head gets stuck in. If you're starting
to feel queasy, then you guessed right.
The
game, of course, is still extremely early on in its development,
but Acclaim confirms that it's a polygon-based 3D shooter and
features a four-player deathmatch mode. Judging from Iguanas
technical background and the fact that the Turok 2 engine is
being used, we can also assume that the game looks brilliant,
despite the series cardboard cut-out animation routines.
Its going to be interesting to say the least.
