In case there
are some questions you have that are not answered here, feel
free to drop me an email
and I'll reply to you asap.
Why don't
you have movies avalible on your server?
Dude, I don't have
the time to upload all those massive realvideo and mpeg files
which I have on my harddisk. Besides, it will really slow down
my server and hamper visitor access to the site. After all, there
are servers around dedicated to downloading of South Park episodes.
Hi.
My site is really new and I need more hits to it. How can
I secure more traffic for my site?
First step is to get
yourself listed on the major search engines such as Altavista,
Yahoo, Infoseek etc. This can be done easily at Submit-It!
or at Siteowner
(part of the Linkexchange website). Next step, you should
want to consider joining some Southpark Webrings though I get
feedback from other webmasters that they have yet to get listed
in webrings that they have applied to join like eons ago. You
can find some of these webrings in my section on Southpark
Webrings. Last and most important of all, email webmasters
of other southpark sites (espcially more popular ones like South
Park Central, Southparkcows,
Park South
etc) and ask to be listed on their southpark link pages. Trust
me, this is the one that will bring you the traffic you're dying
for. But of course, in most cases, you will be expected to make
a link to their sites on yours. Nothing's free! :-)
Did you
have to draw those pics you have and then scan them in? Or did
you use some graphic software?
Honestly, I'm not much
of an artist. I can hardly draw. So I mainly rely on Adobe Photoshop
4.0 (latest version out now is Photoshop 5.0). It's a little expensive
if you're thinking of buying it, but trust me, it's the best graphic
editor software out in the market today and it's worth every single
cent.
Can I use
your graphics on my site?
No problem! Just need
you to provide both a link to my page and give me credit for it.
Can I edit
your graphics?
Feel free to! After
all, I took other webmasters' graphics and edited them myself.
Who taught
you how to make such graphics?
Well, I sort of like
taught myself Photoshop simply by fiddling around with it when
I'm free and use various 'filters' (special effects...) found
in the software to experiment making all sorts of graphics. The
other good thing about using Photoshop is that because it's a
very popular software amongst graphic designers, there are some
experienced designers who have put up webpages which have tutorials
on how to make all kinds of specials effects with Photoshop. One
of my favorite sites is called Cooltype
which you ought to check out if you're just starting to learn
Photoshop.
What if
I asked you to design some southpark graphics for me if I want
to start a site myself?
If I have the time,
yeah, I'd entertain such requests. But I'd definitely appreciate
some sort of credit on your site with a 'noticeable' link back
to my site.
Any HTML
software recommendations? I have heard of some software that readily
codes what you type into HTML language.
From my personal experience,
it's always useful if you know HTML language to a certain extent.
Of course, there are the so-called WYSIWYG (what-you-see-is-what-you-get)
HTML editors such as Microsoft Frontpage 98 and Macromedia Dreamweaver.
They're darn good for beginners but like I said, you have to know
some HTML code yourself because no matter how good these editors
can be, there will be times when you have to get down to the code
itself to fix some bugs in the file. I use Macromedia Dreamweaver
(trial version is available at http://www.macromedia.com)
and I'd recommend it to everyone out there. It's WYSIWYG, and
allows me to change the HTML code with the press of a button.
So go get it!
I have
Photoshop. But I have no idea how to use it. Can you
please teach me?
I can't meet you face
to face and it's tough teaching thru email or irc or whatever.
Besides, I can hardly find the time. Try this instead : go down
to the bookstore and pick up some books on Photoshop for beginners
such as "Photoshop for Dummies". If not, trying searching
for websites that provide Photoshop tutorials.
I made
this cool (game, desktop theme, picture, etc..). Can you put it
up on your site?
I say, let me have
them!!! Just send them to me via email
and I'll definitely put them up on my site with a credit to you
(or your site).
What chat
rooms do you go in?
I'm seldom found in
chat rooms. Besides, I don't dig IRC. Instead, you can find me
on ICQ (my ICQ number is #7070705). Catch me there.
Do you
need any help with your site? Can I join in with you?
Hey, if you're a southpark
fan and you know stuff about making/maintaining a website, do
email me pleeeeeeease!! I desperately need some help and I'm telling
ya, it's tough trying to manage and update a site on my own. But
before you send me an
email, please make sure that you'll have the time and
be able to commit yourself to making this site one helluva good
one.
Can you
join my webring?
Well, I don't have
very good experiences with joining webrings myself. You see, these
things come and go without anyone knowing and some webmasters
of these webrings do not even bother to reply to your application
to join one. I'll have to see, but have more members will help.
How old
are you?
I'm 20.
That font
you use in your graphics is really cool! What's the name of it?
Sorry. Not that I'm
selfish, but I like originality and I really would not like to
see something similar on other websites. So I guess I can't tell.
Please do understand. But if you're looking for cool fonts, try
CoolArchive.
Well, if
I want to make a South Park site, where can I host it? My ISP
only gives me a meagre 1Mb of web space. Any recommendations?
I've had my fair share
of experiences with web hosting services. There're the free ones
and ones that you have to pay for. I'm using Freeservers,
which gives about 12Mb of space, unlimited email aliases with
a nice sub-domain name in the form of http://user_name.freeservers.com
. But it goes down at least once a week (shessh!). Give and take,
I guess! Other free and quite reliable web hosts include Xoom
and Geocities. But
take my advice! If you're willing to pay, get a paid web hosting
service because they're seldom down. It sucks to have to turn
visitors away becoz your site's down. Go for Simplenet
($10 a mth, $39 setup, unlimited space and bandwidth) or Addr.Com
($7.95 a mth, free setup, 10Mb space, 1gig mthly traffic allowance).
How do
I upload my site to geocites?
I'm not a Geocities
administrator. Please send an email to their helpdesk or check
out their online technical support pages.
Who is
Cartman's father?
Do you even watch South
Park? For Christ's sake, please do download episode 2 of Season
2 (Cartman's Mom is a Dirty Slut Part 2). In short, Cartman's
mom is a hermaprodite. Go figure that out.
If I send
you an award, will you put it up?
It depends. Only if
it's a good award. Duh... :-).
Can I link
directly to your files? I don't have much webspace but I
want to look as though my site is huge.
Please don't jam my
server! I'm trying to be nice here. If you want a big site, please
do pay and get yourself one on Simplenet or something. Besides,
I have the habit of shifting my files from directory to directory
on a regular basis to prevent other people from linking to my
stuff without my knowledge.
Why don't
you have any ads on your site? You could be making tons
of money!
I did up the site of
my interest and nothing else. Money's not on my mind at all. I'd
rather hear nice comments on my site and receive good suggestions
from visitors on how to improve my site rather than sit around
and wait for some ft cheque to arrive..
Can I join
your webring?
I don't have a webring.
Maybe I'll have one in the future.
You did
not add me to your links section. Why?
Don't be offended but
I only link to quality sites with original content and fun stuff.
So do try to improve your site and check back with me again.
I made
a pic of South Park. Can you put it up on our site?
Well, I'd have to take
a look at it first. I don't want to just put anything on my site
that might spoil its overall presentation.
Do you
make your own 3-D pics?
Like I said, I'm quite
pathetic at making my own pics. Not to mention 3D pics. But there
are some really awesome ones at Sweeet.com
. You oughta get some there! Got some nice 3D wallpapers for your
desktop too!
